Update from Cllr. Emma Murphy
Edmondstown Road Update - 31 August 2018 I am delighted to share the following Update in relation to the Edmondstown Road Closure - myself and my colleague John Lahart have worked tirelessly on this issue for almost a year and we are relieved to get a positive outcome. Further to the meeting this afternoon with SDCC I have set out the position of the Council in relation to the Edmondstown Road below: South Dublin County Council initiated legal proceedings seeking an order of the Court, that remedial works be carried out following unauthorised excavation and that the Edmondstown Road be reinstated and the road reopened. The legal process while continuing, is taking longer than anticipated. In the context of this uncertain legal timeframe and in order to avoid any potential weather erosion the Council has decided that it is in the best interests of the local residents and businesses as well as the wider public who have been severely impacted by the closure that the works are undertaken by a specialist contractor on behalf of the Council. To this end a contractor has been appointed and works will commence within the next two weeks. The duration of the works is expected to be 12 weeks from commencement. The Council will continue to pursue its legal action. Emma Murphy Irish Water is working in partnership with Dublin City Council to deliver the Ballyboden Water Treatment Plant Upgrade Project. This project represents an investment of €10.5 million by Irish Water. The existing Ballyboden Water Treatment Plant is located within a 25 acre site situated on Stocking Lane, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16. Ballyboden Water Treatment Plant supplies treated water to customers in Dublin City, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown and South Dublin County... Please see the link below which is a short survey I am undertaking to gather feedback to work collaboratively with the Council to address traffic congestion in the area (both current & future congestion). I would like to receive as many responses as possible and will be sharing the survey link below with as many residents as possible through social media etc over the coming days.
