WarnRathf: Number of complaints regarding people collecting door to door for fraudulent charities. Collectors must carry an authorisation from An Garda Siochana and bona fides collectors will not mind being asked for same. Never leave your front door open and unattended when unknown callers come to your home.
WarnRathf: Number of people locally contacted by their “bank”. Claims of fraudulent transactions on their account and they must attend post office and wire money through western union to obtain a refund. WarnRath: The garda station is busy with passport applications, two things to remember if going on holidays. 1: Check if your passport needs to be renewed now, rather than a week before your flight. 2: Home security, arrange to have post taken in, organise a key holder etc. Visit garda.ie for crime prevention tips.

WarnRathf: Majority of recent burglaries through rear doors and windows. Making your side entrance visible from the road outside can deter people attempting to access your back garden.
Beware of thefts from cars in public car parks. Never leave valuables in your car and avoid placing valuables in the boot of the vehicle in full view. Under the car seat is not a secure hiding place.
Number of burglaries recently between 10am and 2pm with entry gained through back door or rear window. Keep alarms on and consider cutting back bushes that reduce visibility into your garden. Visit crime prevention at www.garda.ie

Neighbourhood Watch
Neighbourhood Watch is a crime prevention and community safety programme for urban areas. It operates as a partnership between An Garda Síochána and the public. It works on the basis that every member of a community can help to improve the quality of life in the area by keeping a look out for neighbours and reporting suspicious activities to the Gardaí.

In Ireland access to 112 is available from fixed telephones, including public pay telephones, from mobile telephones and by foreign mobile phone subscribers visiting the country. Access to 112 is even possible from mobile handsets without a SIM card or with restricted SIM card (blocked, not authorised to roam abroad etc.) When you call from fixed telephones there is automatic provision of caller location information with the 112 call. When you call from mobile telephones you will be requested by the emergency call handling service to give your location. The advantages of 112 across EuropeA single emergency number 112 that is accessible for all emergencies and to all people living and travelling in the EU is easy to remember. As such, promoting the use of 112 helps to save lives. As European citizens are increasingly travelling to other countries, for business or pleasure, there is a need for a single number, identical across the EU, to call in an emergency. Especially for travellers, safety in emergencies is the other side of the coin of the single market and the freedoms it offers. A large majority of EU citizens (95%) agree about the usefulness of having an emergency number available anywhere in the EU. The European Commission have published a factsheet on this eCall concept.
