Following an independent engineers report by Pat O Gorman & associates on behalf of SDCC they have advised that the Prospect bridge be closed with immediate effect on safety grounds, signs going up today.
The problem is that the concrete around the abutments holding up the bridge is breaking up, problem could be very serious or just a case to build up the concrete base assuming the bridge supports were piled at the time of construction.
Do we have any timelines on when repairs will be made?
Bridge closed over a month now,,,nothing happening..is someone responsible for this to get it fixed..youths now concregating around the area because of bridge closure, one of the new trees smashed near the bridge, saw another one broken in half at the other end of the estate...
The committee are struggling to get any decent response from the Council confirming a timeline to repair and reopen the bridge. We are issuing a newsletter at start of August asking residents to contact local Councillors to demand its urgent repair. Lets hope that sufficient numbers of residents make their feelings know to the Councillors and the relevant local Authority departments.
